Can one heal through art? Yes, you can! Sanctuary Design Studio creates unique safe spaces for healing through artistic expression with art therapy sessions. From design services to mural designs, original prints, custom art, home decor, handmade slow fashion and zero-waste items name it and they do it. Sanctuary Design Studio is owned by Abigail Hewitt who goes by the artist name ‘Abii Paris’.
Her journey with the arts began at a young age. Showcasing her talent by designing clothes and bags for her dolls using her own worn clothing. She later went on to make bags, purses and hair accessories for herself. This lead her to launch her business in 2014. Upon the establishment of her business, Hewitt was selling an assortment of hair accessories, bow ties, makeup bags and pencil cases and later incorporated handmade jewelry items, original paintings and artworks into her business.
Hewitt is very passionate about what she does and enjoys helping people. Whenever she lacks the capacity to physically create, she helps persons of varying generations along their journey through life and art. Unknown to her these were art therapy sessions that have had a positive impact on a person’s mental health during the pandemic. She has since hosted several sessions with both locals and visitors to the island.
