The lyric “Long time we nuh have no nice time” has been said among many Jamaicans in the past 2 years. The global pandemic caused the Island’s entertainment sector to be placed on pause, and the need of having outside fun again legally seemed to be farfetched. On March 18 2022, Prime Minister Andrew Holness officially declared the reopening of the entertainment sector, with many promoters and partygoers expressing immense joy, and immediately sharing event fliers. Getting in on the fun, Recording Artist Kalyra looks to give the masses something to dance to with her new single, “One Wine”.

Produced by Dale “Dizzle” Virgo of DZL Records and Elisha Ellis, Kalyra’s “One Wine” features DJ/Media Personality/Recording Artist Brush1Chromatic, and Recording Artists DBurnz and Shaddoh Blacks. Together, the Artists give listeners a feel-good bubbly track that will get your body moving, bring in a wave of vibes that will cause a scene, encourage “couple up” moments to return to the dance, and put the battery in the backs of partygoers again.

“‘One Wine’ is a celebration of the reopening of the Entertainment sector in Jamaica, and the return of partying.” shared Kalyra about the new single. “Elisha Ellis found the inspiration for the track one day, and suggested that we quickly put together a track. Brush1’s energy along with DBurnz and Shaddoh’s lyricism were perfect to fit the vibe I brought to the track. Dale Virgo and Elisha gave us the right sound, and we made something amazing. This one is for the partygoers all over the world, the couples who miss dancing their heart out at an event, and whether you’re old school or new school, this is your song to move your waistline to!” A music video for “One Wine” is in its final stages of completion, and is expected to accompany the single’s release.

Kalyra is a trained Jamaican Singer-songwriter/Actress/Dancer who has been active for over 20 years. She has represented Jamaica in the World Championship of the Performing Arts in her teens, and has assisted various Artists as a Choreographer and supporting Vocalist. Her music is a fusion of Reggae and Dancehall, with a hint of R&B and Pop, and she has left unforgettable impressions with her energetic stage performances.
