Making Chess Fun, Not a ‘Bored’ Game

Our guests, Tournament Chairman – Jamaica Chess Federation, Warren Elliott and Jaden Shaw are here to encourage the introduction of chess in the family and in schools and remove the fear or stigma of it being boring and also to highlight the upcoming games tournament.

The National Online Age Group Chess Championships is set to start ONLINE April 2-3, 2022! This time it’s also a qualifier for the face to face return of the National Age Group Chess Championships!

The event was played during Covid-19 era but only online. This year promises to be even more incredible! Children will compete in different sections in a fun but mentally challenging environment! Of course there’s the added bonus of being able to represent your country at international events online!

The National Age Group CHESS Championships is an annual prestigious event on the Jamaica Chess Federation calendar and selects official International Representatives at their respective age level.

We encourage participation in this event, as it allows children across the island to play against other children their similar age group.  The environment is often friendly with hundreds of children from all over Jamaica. Being online via ZOOM will replicate the experience similarly to what is happening on the international chess circuits. Not to be missed!
