Miramar’s Commissioner Visits Jamaica

Jamaican-born Maxwell Chambers who is the Commissioner of Miramar, Florida will be arriving in Jamaica today, August 18, 2022, as a Goodwill Ambassador for GroceryList Jamaica. The online grocery company is set to have a soft launch in each parish through its “Feet on the Street” programme. While in Jamaica, Commissioner Chambers will visit his home parish, Clarendon. Chambers during his visit will also stop in St. Ann where he will pledge increased brand awareness on behalf of GroceryList Jamaica.

GroceryList has some 150 outlets in Jamaica where Jamaicans in the Diaspora can order grocery items for their family and friends in Jamaica and have the items delivered within minutes of placing an order. The platform covers all 14 parishes in Jamaica. In addition to the over 150 stores, there are some 700 people in Jamaica who do the shopping and delivery.

Chambers immigrated to the United States in 2007. Chambers was first elected to office in 2015 as Commissioner in the City of Miramar. In 2016, he became Vice Mayor. He was re-elected in March 2017, 2021 and currently serves as the Commissioner. Residents know that he will do all he can to help to alleviate the stress they are facing especially in this challenging economy. He is actively involved in community development projects such as a drive-up Covid-19 Testing Site, and mask and hand sanitizer distribution among others.
