What began as a vision is now a mission to share the joy and magic of poetry with students and the people of Jamaica. The mission also includes showing students the benefits of poetry such as increasing one’s cognitive skills, helping with conflict resolution, and processing and healing after trauma.
The stage is set for the 2022 Jamaican Poets Nomadic College and School Tour. The tour is set for three weeks, commencing October 25 to November 10 with an exceptional lineup of poets. The tour will make stops at several educational institutions across Jamaica to share their gift and talent.
The Tour will also be partnering with the Poetry Society of Jamaica, and the Department of Literature in English at the University of the West Indies to host a free poetry workshop. The Tour was launched in 2017, to provide opportunities for Jamaican poets to read and share with students while showing the positive role of poetry.
