Dancehall deejay Sudu Mos-I is excited about the response he’s receiving with his soon to be released single titled Goals featuring Tashne McLean. “I’m getting crazy feedback about this new single which is no surprise because it’s a wonderful song. My team and I have put a lot of promotion behind and it’s working,” said the artiste. Goals is currently enjoying heavy rotation on several local radio stations. “I’m pleased with the response that this song is getting. It’s receiving a lot of airplay and I’m grateful to all the DJs for their support,” said Sudu Mos-I.
“I began writing this song in 2017 on a hike up the Kalalau Trail on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Several times during the 11-mile trek uphill I felt like giving up but I couldn’t because doing this hike was a very important goal for me; therefore I pushed on and completed it,” he said. Produced by Ralston Barrett for Symphony B Records, Goals is scheduled to be released on all leading digital platforms including Itunes, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon on the 15th of April.
Born Dwayaine Jarrett on June 17, in Westmoreland Jamaica
The name Sudu was given to him by one of his uncles due to his appearance as a child looking like he is from India. Sudu grew up in the tourist resort area Negril.Vast entertainment had many sound systems and stage shows held nightly. Sudu discovered his talent while attending Green Island High School in neighboring parish Hanover. On his quest to become a Dancehall/ Reggae artiste he performed on many stage shows in and around Westmoreland and Hanover. His popularity grew and stage presence landed him a open act for a Third World Concert. His love for music had him playing and managing Lazeme, one of the biggest sound system in the west.
With support from his peers he started recording professionally making trips to Kingston at Anchor recording studio as well as Arrows. Not before long he was met with resistance from his parents who demanded that he attend college and further his education and University is a must. Not wanting to disappoint his parents he pushed his dream aside and attended UTech (University of Technology Ja.) where he majored in land surveying.
Sudu later migrated to the United States, where he started to persue his dream once more teaming up with Jamaican Producer Jah wayne and released a single “COOL & QUIET” on Expression riddim. Miami based producer Jourdan Grate produced two tracks “STEP OUT” and a underground hit titled “WINNINGS”. Inaddition to “BIG TING” that was produced by England based producer Jermain T-Mar Millington on his Bubble & Whine riddim which did well on the England Dancehall scene. Sudu took to the internet posting videos of himself doing a wide aray of different songs touching multiple topics and displaying his versitility that proved to be more fruitful as he is now working with and recording under the guidance of billboard hit producer Jr. Dillinger of Trinidad. One would like to think it is safe to say a number of hit songs is expected to come from this team.
Major musical influence for Sudu stems from the likes of Buju Banton whose music motivates and stay on a positive note. Spragga Benz for his consistently up tempo tracks as well as a subtle gangster image even as a rasta man. Assassin for that authentic dancehall flow and sound. Topping off his list of influential artist is Beres Hammond best known for groovy and timeless music. Pulling influences from this caliber of senior artist one could only imagine the sound of such a fusion. Well not any more. Witty lyrics with a authentic Dancehall sound and delivering hard hitting tracks coupled with also the slower positive sound of Reggae will be a experience worth looking forward to.
