Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a protein that carries oxygen. Healthy red blood cells are round and move through small blood vessels to carry oxygen to all body parts. In someone who has SCD, the hemoglobin is abnormal, which causes the red blood cells to become hard and sticky and look like a C-shaped farm tool called a “sickle.” Daniellia White is a sickle cell warrior and a serial entrepreneur. Not only is she a published author of ‘The Depths of My Scars’ published in 2019, but she is also an Entertainment Executive, Sickle Cell Advocate, Podcaster, and the CEO of two companies – Daniellia White Organization, a Boutique Entertainment Hub. She also founded a humanitarian movement (charity) called Warriors Unite Ja, which aims to educate, advocate and celebrate those living with Sickle Cell Disease. She joined us on Sunrise to tell us more.
