Like most Jamaicans, patties are one of Opal Rowe’s favourite foods and everyone who knows her is well aware that she has a passion for food. Many Jamaicans while abroad crave some Jamaican food like ackee and salt fish, curry goat, or even some patties. A few years ago, Rowe found herself craving patties and despite the abundance of patties available in Toronto, she was not able to find a nutritious patty that she could pair with a nice glass of wine. After this experience, she decided to start experimenting with different recipes for patties until she found a formula that she loved. With this formula, Rowe launched her company ‘Stush Patties’ in 2021.
Rowe is no stranger to business as she operated a successful company Nowhere Like home, which in 2015, won an award for Best Small Business. So how does she find time to juggle all this and still be a foodie?
