Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Kamina Johnson Smith says Jamaica is eager to expand economic ties with Belgium and continues to recognize that country’s support for the development of the island’s human capital through the provision of scholarships and training opportunities. Ambassador of Belgium to Jamaica, Hugo Verbist, hosted a Belgian King’s Day reception last Tuesday (November 24) at the Spanish Court Hotel to recognize 60 years of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Jamaica. The gathering of 200 specially selected guests, including a mix of diplomats, business professionals and socialites, made for a fabulous evening as attendees noshed on Belgian cuisine, got the opportunity to speak the country’s official languages Dutch, French and German, and mingled to their hearts’ content.
