Tesha Allison migrated from Jamaica as a teenager after getting pregnant. She subsequently served the US Army and went to law school, where she had to fight to finish. Now operates her own law firm and has written three books. She is a strong black woman. While the “strong black woman” trope can have negative connotations in that it creates an expectation that black women must always be the pillars of strength no matter the circumstance, she effortlessly embodies all of the positive aspects of that saying. She shared her story on Sunrise.
