As an experienced handwriting expert, she has examined many will and testament fraud cases winning in the Supreme Court in Kingston, Jamaica, the High Court of Trinidad & Tobago, and the Washington DC Courts. A high-profile examination in the United States resulted in a $4.5 million win for a lawyer from Troutman & Saunders for authenticating the 18th-century explorer Alfred Wallace’s 1,700-item collection for the Smithsonian.
Locally, East was a part of the team investigating the “Manchester Municipal $400 million Fraud Scheme” in 2020. This yielded significant results as the group involved was found guilty in 2020. Her opinion has been sought after for major media landmark cases such as the Jon Benet Ramsey investigation. Her opinion on the Anthrax letters was included in the National Geographic television documentary, which aired internationally in September 2009.
East has lectured at major universities such as Bowie State University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She has also provided ‘Question Document Training’ seminars for lawyers through several local banks including Jamaica Money Market Brokers, Jamaica National Building Society, Sagicor and Jamaica Financial Institute Services.
