Does Independence Equal Responsibility?

Parents with young adult children sometimes fear nothing more than their child’s desire for independence. That crippling fear is the fact that they are not ready or mature enough to be on their own as they are simply not responsible enough. We mistake independence for doing what we want no matter the cost or long-term impact. We forget, oftentimes, that it is a balanced equation.
