Today ( September 16, 2022) is World Ozone Day (WOD) and it is being celebrated under the theme “Montreal Protocol @ 35: global cooperation protecting life on earth”. World Ozone Day is celebrated yearly to raise awareness about the work that the National Ozone Unit and alongside the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) have been doing in the fight against climate change and the need for a clean marine environment.
This year’s theme signifies the importance of partnership and togetherness in ensuring future life and generations are protected. With this year’s theme, the National Environment and Planning Agency is aiming to highlight the cooperation of all the countries who have signed the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment and the impact this collaborative initiative is having on Jamaica.
Manager of the National Ozone Unit, Vivian Blake and Senior Public Education and Community Outreach Officer, Ava Tomlinson share more about the initiative on Sunrise. Watch it here:
