Can you list a few population issues on spot? more people require more resources such as food, shelter, water, public services, and amenities. Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will be collaborating to sensitize Jamaicans about the significance and uses of population data and to foster public support for the 2022 Population and Housing Census.
A key source of population data for a country is the census. STATIN will be conducting Jamaica’s 15th Population and Housing Census under the theme: “Yuh Count, Mi Count, All a Wi Count!”. Data collection will commence in September 2022 and is expected to end in December 2022. The overall goal of this exercise is to inform the development of plans, policy formulation, and service delivery through the provision of relevant, reliable, and timely data to the Government and other stakeholders to improve the quality of life in Jamaica.
Corporate Communications Manager, STATIN, Georgia Garvey-Green shares more details with us on Sunrise as she seeks to bring awareness about the importance of population data and the upcoming 2022 Census.
