Trevor Rolan Whyte, popularly known as Zyanigh is a Jamaican dancehall/reggae artist, he was born on the 19th of September 1982 in Farm district, Whitehouse, Westmoreland, Jamaica. Religious Undertones and insightful lyrics, mixed with catchy beats and hooks. The music of his early career had been branded as “Reggae Revival” and his sound compared to artists such as Chronixx and Protoje. Of late Zyanigh has dived into the new upcoming Jamaican sound and has reinvented himself as a dancehall artist showing great versatility.
Zyanigh’s love for music stemmed from a child listening to artists like Professor Nuts, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Sizzla Kalonji, Papa San, Stichie and many more. His music career started when he migrated to London England at the age of 19. He then started recording at local studios and performing at open mic shows. His edgy reggae sound stood out on the popular UK urban music Channel, Channel U, where he was featured in two videos “Look good girl” and “Broken hearted”. Soon after Zyanigh teamed up with young and upcoming producers Shane Anderson, Charles Caliber and Tony from T Express. In 2011 Zyanigh then teamed up from Skypro production where he worked on his sound and produced songs like “Days like these” and “Whenever you cry I cry”
In 2017 Zyanigh went on to work with Marco Jay from the Jazhyah music group. At the beginning of the next year, he released his first official album titled “Unartificial” with the front single titled “Brain power”. This widely received song featured his idol Sizzla Kalonji a big personal moment for Zyanigh.
After a two-year break, Zyanigh linked up with his mentor Everton Bahdur Young and together with selected musicians they released his second album “Sincere” in 2021. This was a live studio album organically created in Tileyard Studio in North London. Zyanigh received a lot of positive feedback from supporters who were most impressed with his tracks “River Man” and “Never had to”. Following the positive reaction to his second album, Zyanigh gathered a lot of motivation for the coming year. However, he decided to step into a new lane, dancehall. Seeking something new and with the growing popularity of the sound in Jamaica and all over the world he decided that he should show everyone how versatile he can be.
Moving forward, Zyanigh would love to have established himself in the industry being a well-recognised name in Jamaica. 2022, he believes could be his biggest year yet as he plans to release a lot of music with his new dancehall sound.
