Joining us in studio is Frederick Nathaniel “Toots” Hibbert, O.J, Jamaican Singer and Songwriter. He is also known as the leader for the reggae and ska band, Toots & the Maytals.
Getting the name ‘Toots’ from his bigger brother in his younger years, Toots reminisces on his time spent winning the Jamaica Festival Song Competition during its first inception. Not only did he capture gold once but three times! He also had two additional 2nd place wins, making his entry into the competition a total of five times.
He gives us the story behind some of his greatest festival hits, most notably ‘Bam Bam’ and ‘Pomps and Pride’. His music journey however started right where his grandmother brought him every Sunday, the church.
