Suspected suicide is the question being raised by residents following a bizarre incident which has left a 2-year-old girl injured from a gunshot wound and 45-year-old Cleon Blackwood dead, in St Catherine.
Cvm Live understands that on Wednesday night the Brown’s Hall Police responded to a report from a young lady accompanied by her mother about a domestic encounter with her partner.
Police say upon arrival at a section of the roadway, Blackwood was seen holding his child in one hand and a firearm in the next. He then reportedly fired at the service vehicle before eluding police with the child in nearby bushes.
Head of the St Catherine North Division, SSP Howard Chambers, says a search was conducted in the area this morning, where Blackwood’s body was found. Senior Superintendent Chambers says the child is in critical care in the hospital. Residents say the community is not known for this kind of violence.
