Beach Erosion In Negril: What Next?

Negril is renowned for its miles of sandy beaches, however, beach erosion remains a serious concern.

With some developments in the town in violation of the Negril and Green Island development order, the distance between some beachfront properties and the shoreline is getting shorter.

The president of the Negril Chamber of Commerce says the beach is intricately linked to the morass, therefore the environment must be protected for the sustainability of the town.

There are environmental concerns coming from a small tourism business operator in the town of Negril.

He refers to a particular beach resort that is allegedly in several breaches of the standards by the local authority as set out in the town and country planning Negril and green island development order, which includes portions of Westmoreland and Hanover.
