Centres for domestic violence says police reports are still insufficient to prevent the increased incidence of domestic violence in Jamaica.
The presiding Bishop of the Portmore Holiness Christian Church, St Catherine Dr. Alvin Bailey says there is an upsurge in cases since the Covid-19 pandemic, which has triggered an alarm across the country. The Bishop is calling on the church to do more, to curb the social malady.
He adds the spectrum of abuse has extended across all categories, highlighting men, women and children from all sectors have fallen victims.
The religious leader explains the need for the church to partner with the police. Bishop Bailey points to the inextricable link between domestic violence, economic hardships and depression.
