People’s National Party, PNP, Councillor Uphell Purcell is once again urging stakeholders to collaborate in their efforts to address the hands-on approach to crime. This plea comes as he continues to mourn the tragic murder of 42-year-old Vendor, Marie Smith-Martin from Beckford Crescent, Sandy Bay in Clarendon.
Smith-Martin was fatally shot in Comfort District, Four Path in the parish on Sunday. According to reports from the May Pen police, around 10:15 a.m., Smith-Martin was attacked by gunmen who opened fire, hitting her before making their escape. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Purcell emphasizes that the attack not only came as a surprise but serves as a stark reminder that some youths have lost their moral compass in Jamaica.
