Election 2020: COVID-19 Protocols Missed on Nomination Day
There was a noted breach of COVID-19 guidelines by candidates and their supporters throughout Nomination Day proceedings across the island. Despite the polling stations’ demands that all persons adhere to the guidelines, the grounds outside of the polling station were business as usual. Motorcades with hundreds of political supporters blocked sections of Mona Road in St. Andrew Eastern and Minister Fayval Williams and the PNP’s Venesha Phillips were nominated at the Mona High school on Tuesday.
Vehicles were fully loaded with passengers, many seemingly unconcerned about the health protocols outlined by the Health Ministry and The Electoral Office Of Jamaica.
