Concerns continue to mount as to the effectiveness of the states of emergency and their success in curbing murders, especially in light of this weekend’s triple murder. While the government continues to hold fast to the SOE, the opposition is once again leveling serious criticisms as to their efficacy. They contend that the overuse of the State of Emergency has nullified the shock and awe that makes them effective.
Once again we put the States of Emergency on the agenda and examine if they are losing effectiveness as Jamaica’s chief crime-fighting strategy.
