PRIVATE CONSUMPTION DRIVES 80% OF GDP

Is the economy able to absorb a cut in the general consumption tax? The leader of the opposition has called for a 2 percent reduction. This call is being represented as a necessary tax break for the poor and vulnerable. But have we arrived at a point in our economic recovery where the economy can absorb and be unaffected by what is likely to be a considerable revenue loss.
