Stuart Richard Young, 50, was sworn in as the nation's eighth Prime Minister on March 17, 2025. Prior to this appointment, Young held several key cabinet positions, including Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Minister of National Security, and Minister of Communications. ​

In a strategic move to secure his own mandate, Prime Minister Young has called for early general elections, scheduled for April 28, 2025. ​

Notably, Young will continue to oversee the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries in his capacity as Prime Minister. ​
Dr. Rowley, who will turn 76 in October, announced his intention to resign earlier this year, naming Young as his successor. ​
