To date according to the Education Ministry, two hundred and forty-eight (248) teachers have resigned. Speaking at a back-to-school media briefing Thursday Education Minister Fayval Williams says that the majority of the spaces have been filled. She gave a breakdown as to which regions were most greatly impacted by the turnover of teachers.
The Minister also noted one corporate area school which lost sixteen (16) teachers have replaced fifteen (15). Meanwhile, in Region 4 there have also been a number of changes.
The ministry had previously released fifteen (15) different strategies, to mitigate the effects of teacher attrition and recently added, following approval from the Ministry of Finance, permission for teachers who are on their long leave, to come back and be their own replacements.
