The Health Ministry and the Overseas Examination Committee (OEC) have put in place measures to reduce the spread of COVID -19 as students seek to sit their external examinations over the next 4-6 weeks.

Deputy Director of the Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC) Sharon Burnett, says provisions are also made for students who are COVID-19 positive. After a three-week postponement, Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) exams resumed on Monday, May 23.  Sharon Burnett, Deputy Director with responsibility for the administration of examinations Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC) is reassuring candidates and parents that there are preparations to facilitate candidates suspected of being or confirmed to be COVID-19 positive, to sit their examinations for the May/June 2022 CXC, City and Guilds, and National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET) written examinations in an isolated area.

The OEC worked with the ministries of education and health to ensure the safety of candidates and invigilators through developing other protocols such as area sanitation, physical distancing, and wearing of K-95 masks. Watch the full report:
