A child, floored by an adult. The St. Catherine South police have commenced an investigation into the assault of the Ascot High School female student, who was punched in the face by a male adult, Thursday.
In a viral video of the incident, the girl can be seen surrounded by a small group of other students, with a woman yelling at her.
The woman can be heard saying “mi wi kill one a uno fi har!” just moments after the man appears and punched the young girl in the face.
She immediately falls to the ground.
The incident has since left citizens disturbed by the adult’s action, awakening a call for better security and protection of the country’s youth.
Acting Divisional Commander for St Catherine South, Hopton Nicholson says the Community Safety and Security Branch has engaged the Principal and Dean of Discipline of the school and has taken a report from the parent of the child.
As he frowns on the idea of adults intervening with student conflicts, he says there are other channels concerned parents can go through, instead of confronting a child.
The police tell Cvm Live, while their investigation continues, focused on a peaceful resolution. They are using several channels to reach out to the man seen in the video punching the student.
