$3.8 Billion Used Of $6 Billion Budgeted For COVID-19

Kingston, Jamaica: $3.8 Billion Used Of $6 Billion Budgeted For COVID-19 Response:  The COVID-19 pandemic has defined a global health crisis and has posed the greatest challenge within all sectors.

According to the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Christoper Tufton, the world has seen a major and dramatic transformation within the last six months, coping with the new normal.

Of the $6 billion dollars budgeted for the ministry’s COVID-19 response, a total of $3.8 billion dollars has been spent on containment.

In addition to the provision of medical equipment, personal protective gear and COVID-19 test kits, at a cost of more than $1.7 billion; $500 million has been spent on prescription drugs.

The Minister was making his sectoral presentation dubbed ‘everyone one counts’ in parliament, on July 7.
