An extensive investigation has been launched by the St. Ann police into Friday’s incident that resulted in four Juici Patty workers being charged for praedial larceny in Alexandria, St. Ann.
Those accused have been identified as 36-year-old Anthony Turner, 53-year-old Alvara Black, 23-year-old Romaine Mclean and 73-year-old Donald Gooden.
Head of the St. Ann Police Senior Superintendent David White confirms at about 10 am two Juici Patties trucks were intercepted. The police later realized the vehicles were transporting six stolen cows.
The Senior Superintendent says his team intends to be extremely thorough in handling the matter, as reports of praedial larceny continue to grow.
A video that has been circulating on social media that captures the scene at the time of the arrests, shows angry farmers and residents as they came to identify their animals.
One farmer says his animals were stolen last year while other men seen in the video threatened that violence will be used to deal with future robbers.
However, over the years, the police have constantly advised against any form of reprisals, urging Jamaicans to leave justice to the authorities.
Meanwhile, all efforts to contact Juici Patties or to locate a published statement from the company have proven futile. More details here:
