A twist to violence in schools, two separate awards and a planned scholarship to be named in honour of the deceased, Michion Campbell. Stakeholders among alumni such as Mutabaruka visited the Kingston Technical High school on Friday morning to recognize students for their heroic prowess.
This comes approximately 2 months after the fatal stabbing of a female student by another female following an altercation at the institution. While several onlookers were seeking means to video record the horrifying ordeal others were fearless in their approach to providing assistance.
Applauding the initiative Principal Maulton Campbell says this is significant to promote others to become peacemakers. He notes aspects of early socialization can prevent violence in schools.
Meanwhile, Claude Sinclair, Spokesperson of the Rudolf Prendergast Foundation Incorporated says the award was birth from an investigation into the tragedy. He notes this is an opportunity to recover from the incident.
