One m16 rifle with a modified magazine and uniforms belonging to the security forces were seized in Rose Garden, Kingston Central on Thursday, following a double murder in the division Monday afternoon.
Monday’s killing is said to be linked to an ongoing feud between the James Street and Smith Lane gangs, which are believed to be spin-offs of the darkness and genocide gangs respectively.
Head of Operations for the division, Deputy Superintendent Linval Phoenix says police intelligence from that killing led them to the findings.
He says the discovery of the police uniforms, suggests criminals will resort to any means to achieve their objectives.
As per the Security Minister’s instruction, Deputy Superintendent Phoenix warns gunmen not to engage the police, as they will retaliate.
