14 Day Quarantine Rule Remains In Effect For Visitors

14 Day Quarantine Rule – With thousands of visitors expected to arrive on the island for the Christmas season, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has warned that visitors must adhere to the 14-day quarantine rule. This is in spite of the New Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) recommendation that quarantine, sampling, and isolation of international travellers are no longer necessary.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has recommended that international travellers should not be regarded and managed as contacts of COVID-19 cases or suspected COVID-19 cases and therefore should not be quarantined nor be subjected to sampling and isolation in destination countries.

However, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has re-asserted that the quarantine rule for Jamaica remains in full effect.

At the last COVID-19 conversations press briefing the chief medical officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie pointed out that the recommendations issued from international bodies are done so to countries of different statuses.

She noted, however, that things will eventually return to normal.
