A 16-year-old female has been charged with murder after stabbing her 20-year-old boyfriend to death, in Manchester.
The murder has fueled more talks around the elevated number and severity of domestic dispute cases. The growing incidence of domestic violence in Jamaica has again produced a tragic outcome. The teenage girl is now in police custody, charged with the murder of her 20-year-old lover Chandane Harriott, a labourer of Bethel Street, Greenvale in Manchester.
The police tell CVM LIVE, that the two were involved in a relationship. Reports are both had a dispute when the 16-year-old accused used a knife to stab Harriott in his neck. He was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injury. The teenager was subsequently arrested and charged.
This latest tragedy has resurfaced talks around the engagement of dispute resolution which head of the Manchester Police Superintendent Shane McCalla says is a major social issue. The police are again appealing to citizens to seek professional intervention to settle domestic disputes. Investigations into this latest incident continue.
