In Westmoreland on Sunday, February 6, gunshots ended an illegal party, leaving two people dead and six others injured. This incident comes after several communities in the parish were placed under Zones of Special Operation in January.

This double murder marks the 4th double murder in the parish. What was supposed to be a spirited bike show in Spring Gardens district, Little London Westmoreland, ended in tragedy Sunday night; dead is 32-year-old Marshall Gayle otherwise called ‘Cheese-Chips’, a shop owner of the district, along with co-owner 24-year-old Sherese Murray.

While recounting the ordeal, Marshall’s elder brother, Delroy Gayle says the Spring Gardens district is not known for violence.

JLP Member of Parliament Morland Wilson visited the community and offered his support to the family. He is appealing for anyone with information on the shooting to come forward. Police reports are that six other people who were shot and injured at the illegal social gathering were transported to the hospital where they have been treated and are in stable condition.

Up to news time at 8PM, only one of the six had been treated and released. More details in this report:
