2 Men Killed in St. Elizabeth, Allegedly by Armed Robbers

Residents of Malvern, St. Elizabeth are mourning the loss of two of their own; the two men were killed by armed robbers on Wednesday. Councillor for the Division Peter Powell is lamenting what he calls an unexpected loss. While condemning the killing he notes the tragedy was brought about by migrating criminals in the once peaceful parish.

Two men known only as Mickey and Colonel were killed Wednesday morning In Malvern, St. Elizabeth. Mickey was among a mob who chased robbers into the bushes after they broke into a nearby bar and allegedly sexually assaulted the bartender. Colonel was simply going about his business. Although the residents were tight-lipped, CVM LIVE understands Colonel was at the wrong place at the wrong time, as he reportedly ran into the armed robbers while on his way to his farm. That interaction ended in tragedy.

Councillor Caretaker for the Malvern Division Peter Powell tells CVM LIVE the incident has sent shock waves throughout the entire community. St. Elizabeth is usually regarded as a peaceful parish in comparison to the others. In fact, when the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) released its most-wanted list in January, only four of the ninety men committed crimes in St. Elizabeth.

The police say investigations continue into Wednesday morning’s nefarious killings added to a few others since the weekend.
