Yesterday, tragedy struck Sweatham Road in Whitfield Town, Kingston, as a devastating fire engulfed several homes, rendering 25 individuals homeless, including children aged between 3 and 15. This marks the second such incident in the community within a year.
Neil, a single father of three and a victim of the fire, expressed his devastation, unable to comprehend how the fire started. Having just recovered from a similar incident at the beginning of 2023, where they lost their residence, Neil and his neighbors now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives once again. Despite recently replacing appliances lost in the previous fire, they are confronted with an unforeseen challenge.
Councillor Eugene Kelly assured the affected families that preparations were in place to assist them. As these residents navigate through this unfortunate turn of events, we will continue to follow their story and recovery.
