3-Day National Dengue Clean-Up Activated

The Government is stepping up activities to curtail the current Dengue Outbreak across the island.

Details on the National Clean Up Activation programme were disclosed during the first Post Cabinet Press Briefing of the year, held today (Wednesday, January 15, 2020) at the Office of the Prime Minister.

All Jamaicans are being called into action to participate in the national dengue clean up intervention.

The activities which comes at a cost of one billion dollars, will last for three days and will see over fourteen hundred vector control workers across the island.

On January 24, vector control workers will focus on schools, churches and businesses, while on January 25 and 26 eradication measures will be ramped up in homes and community spaces.

In response to the dengue crisis, support is coming from separate business entities and government agencies.

One hundred and fifty eight communities have been selected for cleanup, thirty-six of those are being identified as critical.

The tag-line for the national clean up intervention is “mosquito wanted dead, not alive”
