3 murders were committed in South Clarendon, in less than 24 hours. While the motives remain unclear, police are urging residents to provide any information that will help in their investigation.
A double murder in Gayle, South Clarendon has rattled the usually quiet community, leaving many residents questioning the motive that led to the death of 47-year-old Cleverton Brown otherwise called Badda Badda, and 61-year-old Beverly Pinnock.
The two relatives were reportedly sitting in their yard shortly after seven when men alighted a vehicle fired several gunshots in the yard. The mother of the deceased was also shot and is currently undergoing treatment.
MP for Southeast Clarendon, Pearnel Charles Jr. says the community has in recent times been battling with an upsurge of violence. Charles says the community requires social intervention as crime is becoming more common especially among the youth. Hours later, in a nearby constituency, another shooting incident took place on Foga Road in Clarendon resulting in the death of 20-year-old Ragaun Stenett.
Councillor for the York Town Division, Euphel Percell says the violence is getting out of control and increasingly unbearable. Percell says many of the young people there are focused on crime.
