6 Per Cent Increase in Murders Linked to Gangs and Interpersonal Conflicts

Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says there has been an increase of 2.8 percent in major crimes in 2022 compared to the same time last year. Murders fueled by gang and interpersonal conflicts have also increased 6 per cent over 2021 figures. Major Anderson was speaking at a constabulary media briefing on Tuesday.

Interpersonal conflicts and gang feuds have managed to paint Jamaica red with the blood of some 58 more victims this year when compared to the same period last year. The confirmation came from police commissioner Major General Antony Anderson. He highlighted several of the cases under which victims’ lives were ended.
