Nine more private doctors have joined the Health Ministry’s Public Private Initiative to help stamp out non communicable diseases. They now add to the four who were previously enrolled in the project that began in November 2020.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton maintains NCD’s account for some 70 per cent of lifestyle illnesses. Minister of health and wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton welcomes nine additional private doctors to the public private partnership for non-communicable diseases launched in November 2020.
Dr. Tufton says the project was designed to foster togetherness between both sides of health care, by liaising to tackle one of the major causes of death in the country, lifestyle diseases.
The project started with just 4 private practitioners, however Tufton says the results have been rewarding. He describes it as a “win, win” arrangement as he says the public health care system can receive some much needed assistance.
He’s now focused on building the resilience of the sector.
