A story that has united Jamaicans and renewed hope across the island, 9-Year old Phylisa Prussia of Bottom Yard District, Bath in St. Thomas who was reported missing on October 14 has been found alive on Saturday, October 16.
The police theorize she was abducted, as CCTV footage obtained from the area showed the 9-year-old being escorted by a male. Following more than two days of search, the nation and Phylisa’s family are breathing a collective sigh of relief as she was found conscious in a section of Arcadia district in the parish.
Reports are that minutes after 1 pm on Saturday, October 16, the suspected abductor, Davian Bryan was sighted in the district, and residents alerted the police. Deputy Superintendent of police, Oneil Thompson, detailed how the girl was found.
Phylisa Prussia was immediately taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital for medical attention. Her mother, who was emotionally distraught, was quickly ushered in to be reunited with her daughter, while on the outside the medical staff rejoiced.
More than 500 hundred community members assisted with the search supported by the police, the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, (CPFSA), and other agencies. And as the manhunt continues for the suspect, the Commissioner of Police of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Major Antony Anderson is discouraging jungle justice.
