Abusive Father Arrested After 3 Hour Stand-Off with Cops

Abusive Father Arrested- Every day, for years Spanish Town residents heard the cries of a child being beaten. What was routine for them, was torture for the child who is now a grown man.

In the latest scenario the young man, who is mentally ill, pleaded with the residents to call the police, which resulted in the arrest of the alleged abuser, his 64-year-old dad, Jesta Higgins. Proof of this abuse is found in a video that has been circulating on social media. For three hours the police were engaged in a standoff to arrest 64-year-old Jesta Higgins. Higgins was seen in a video beating his son who was said to be of unsound mind. His son was seen chained to a grill, naked and crying.  Residents were gathered outside Higgin’s March Pen home in Spanish Town, to witness the standoff and shared what they know about the abuse.

It is reported that Higgins threw bottles and even human excrement to deter police, which worked. When the police left, residents decided to remove him from his house themselves and attempted to cut his locs. The resistance Higgins put up is standard behaviour according to residents. One resident denounced his behaviour.

The police eventually returned to take him into custody. By this time the residents had exercised their frustration on Higgins. He sat in the bed of the police pickup bloody and with a little less locs.

CVM’s Jhanielle Powell tells us how the police finally managed to detain the alleged abuser.
