With dangerous and disobedient road users heading the list of reasons for the implementation of the new Road Traffic Act, Acting Commissioner of Police Gary Mckenzie says the goal is to foster a safer road experience for all. Despite some motorists calling for leniency from officers, ACP McKenzie says while the police should use their discretion, there can only be a limited number of warnings.
As he seeks to educate the residents on the act’s purpose and penalties, ACP McKenzie says all vehicles ought to have the necessary documentation, with insurance being of the utmost importance to cover injuries sustained in the event of an accident. ACP McKenzie says the police will be using tint meters with more regularity. The visibility for the drivers themselves, especially at night, is also a significant consideration.
