Alarm Raised Over ‘Toxic’ Fogging Chemical

Amid a surge in dengue cases and efforts to reduce the local mosquito population, an advocacy group has raised concerns regarding the environmental safety of certain products, specifically a fogging insecticide. The People’s Anti-Corruption Movement gathered outside the Ministry of Health and Wellness, calling for transparency regarding the potential risks associated with this product. The recent dengue outbreak prompted members of the People’s Anti-Corruption Movement to stage a protest on Wednesday morning, highlighting the need to intensify vector control measures.

Lloyd D’Anguilar, the leader of the movement, explained to CVM News that their unease primarily centers around the hazardous chemical known as malathion, which is a component of the spray used in fogging. He pointed out that the Ministry, in all its dengue education campaigns, has neglected to mention the implications of using this high-risk insecticide. Watch the report:
