A major push for the local tourism sector as American Airlines has announced non-stop flight service between the Miami International Airport and Ian Flemming International Airport will commence in November later this year.
The Tourism Minister’s welcoming the initiative adding it will be a plus for Jamaica’s tourism. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett is welcoming American Airline’s move to operate two weekly non-stop flights, between the Miami International Airport and The Ian Flemming International Airport located just outside of Ocho Rios.
Described as a valuable addition to Jamaica’s tourism development, this initiative is set to take flight later this year on November 5, operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The tourist hub will be American Airline’s third destination on the island. Minister Bartlett says two rotations per week is a great start to encourage other airlines to fly into the area.
He notes it is a major boost for neighbouring parishes to enhance tourism development. Meanwhile, the airline has also announced that a year round service between Austin, Texas and Montego Bay, St. James will commence on June 4.
