Antigen Testing Equipment Given To Six Approved Labs

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton announced that six approved private laboratories were now equipped to conduct COVID-19 antigen testing.

The recent announcement around travel restrictions from Jamaica’s leading tourism market partners the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada have rendered the Jamaican Government’s reflex reaction to expanding local testing.

Dr. Tufton says the need for collaboration between the private and public sectors have been longstanding. This, as he notes several such partnerships are already underway.

Also, Dr. Tufton says while the Ministry’s prepared, PCR testing remains a major challenge due to limited resources.
