He also notes significant plans by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to appeal aspects of the law deemed concerning following a 4-year sentence for illegal gun possession recently.
King’s Counsel, Peter Champagnie says the new firearms act is very complicated and onerous for licensed firearm holders.
However, he appeals to the public to appreciate the new legislation this comes after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions announced on Monday that the four-year sentence recently handed down to Dennis Mundell under the new firearms act was indicted under the wrong section of the new law.
