Banks Urged to Be Vigilant Amid Robbery Sprees

The police are urging financial institutions to ramp up security mechanisms and remain vigilant for robbers targeting their businesses. This call to action comes after another robbery and attack on a security team while servicing ATMs.

Criminals, on Sunday, successfully out-gunned a second Beryllium courier team, after they serviced a Scotia Bank ATM in Braeton Parkway, Portmore, St. Catherine. The reality raised security concerns, prompting the Senior Superintendent and Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, Stephanie Lindsay, to urge greater collaboration between these institutions and the police.

The police are aware that they are up against organized criminal groups, as SSP Lindsay says the situation requires heightened vigilance. Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent and commanding officer for the St. Catherine South Police Division Christopher Phillips says patrol mechanisms are now in place to mitigate these robbery sprees. Watch the report:
