Shop operators in the Pearnel Charles Arcade in Downtown Kingston are calling on the government to address a bathroom situation they say they’ve been dealing with for years.
Irate vendors at the arcade say they’re battling more than just strict operating hours.
The vendors say the restrooms in the arcade are in a deplorable condition. They say despite constant cries, this has been the case for years. The arcade has one bathroom in function and it is without running water.
One vendor says it is a hot spot for COVID-19 as they are unable to wash their hands as often as they should.
She says they’ve even had to use alternative measures to flush toilets. This, she says is unfortunate especially since they’re still required to pay stall fees. Efforts to get a comment from Kingston Mayor Delroy Williams have proven futile.
