“Be the Hero on the Scene; Take the COVID-19 Vaccine”

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will intensify its vaccination activities with a special blitz for this weekend under the theme, “Be the Hero on the Scene by Taking the COVID-19 vaccine”.

The Heroes weekend vaccination thrust comes as the Ministry targets administering one million vaccine doses on or before November 30, 2021. Over 90 vaccination sites will be opened on Saturday, October 16 through to Heroes Day Monday, October 18. This in addition to the private entities that will be administering vaccines, some public centres are scheduled to open as late as 4 p.m.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton is strongly encouraging citizens to be a hero, this heroes’ weekend and get vaccinated.

Asked about a vaccine mandate, Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) Dr. Jacquline Bissasor-Mckenzie, said measure will have to be put in place to get the vaccination numbers up, however she notes that the decision is up to Cabinet. She added that the World Health Organization, (W. H. O) has mention a few things to be considered in terms of the vaccines such as; the availability of vaccine, its efficacy, among others. Meanwhile, Dr. Bissasor-Mckenzie provided an update on COVID-19 samples sent overseas for testing.
